UP TET will be held in February 2027; UPESSC will now conduct the TET twice a year..
There is a major update for candidates awaiting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has begun preparations to conduct the UP TET 2027, with a proposal to hold the examination in February 2027. The UPESSC recently presented this information regarding the proposed schedule for the UP TET 2027 before the Allahabad High Court. It was also disclosed to the High Court that there are plans to conduct the UP TET twice a year starting from the coming years.
Let us look at the details: when in February the UP TET might be held, what the plan for conducting the exam twice a year entails, and why the TET scheduled for February 2027 is significant.
UP TET 2027 in the Last Week of February
While hearing a petition, a division bench of the Allahabad High Court had requested the UPESSC to provide a proposed schedule for the UP TET. In response, the UPESSC recently submitted the schedule for the UP TET 2027 to the High Court, proposing that the examination be held in the last week of February. It is expected that the results for the UP TET 2027 will be released by May.
Opportunity for TGT Candidates Until June 30
The application process for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) posts in Uttar Pradesh is currently underway. For the 2026 TGT recruitment, the UPESSC has provided a conditional exemption to candidates who have not yet cleared the TET. These candidates are permitted to apply for the 2026 TGT recruitment and appear for the examination; however, it is mandatory for all such candidates to pass the TET by June 30, 2027. Consequently, the UP TET 2027, proposed for February, is crucial for these candidates.
Plans Underway to Conduct UP TET Twice a Year
The UPESSC is currently working on a plan to conduct the UP TET twice a year, with the intention of holding the examination in July and January of each academic year. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued guidelines recommending that the TET be conducted twice annually; in line with these, the UPESSC is developing its proposal. Notably, since 2011, the TET has never been held twice in a single year in Uttar Pradesh.
