It was organized across 74 districts of the state. A total of 1,053 examination centers were established for this exam, and the test was held in two shifts each day. The written examination was conducted offline—specifically, it was OMR-based. More than 25.32 lakh candidates applied for this examination.

Approximately 2.5 million applicants are competing for the 41,424 available posts. There is a competition of roughly 60 candidates for every single vacancy. On the first day of the written examination—April 25—a total of 635,856 students appeared for the test. On the second day—April 26—649,435 candidates took the examination.

**Stages Involved in the Examination**
The UP Home Guard examination will be conducted in several stages. The written examination phase will continue until April 27. Candidates who successfully clear this stage will be given the opportunity to participate in the second stage, which is the Physical Standard Test (PST). In this stage, candidates are assessed based on their height and chest measurements.

**Height (Male):** 165 cm (for General/OBC/SC categories); 160 cm (for ST category)
**Height (Female):** 152 cm (for General/OBC/SC categories); 147 cm (for ST category)
**Chest (Male):** 79 cm (unexpanded) and 84 cm (expanded)

Candidates who qualify in the PST stage are called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). This stage involves a running test. Male candidates are required to complete a 2.4 km run within a stipulated time limit—typically between 12 and 14 minutes. Female candidates, on the other hand, must complete a 1 km run—typically within 6 to 8 minutes.

After completing the aforementioned stages, candidates are called in for document verification. Candidates who are finally selected undergo a medical check-up. Those who clear these stages receive their appointment letters. Upon securing this job, one receives an annual salary of at least ₹20,000. Allowances are also revised based on factors such as the place of posting and the nature of duty—for instance, if it involves night shifts.
