UP B.Tech Admission: Admission to vacant seats will be based on Class 12 marks; JEE Main not required..

There is welcome news for students awaiting admission to B.Tech and MCA programs in Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow University has extended the application deadline for direct admission to seats that remained vacant for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested students can now apply until August 12. Notably, a JEE Main score is not required for admission to these seats.

The university will conduct admissions based on merit for the seats remaining after UPTAC counseling. Opportunities are available for admission to the first year of B.Tech as well as lateral entry into the second year. A direct admission process will also be followed for the MCA program.

**B.Tech Merit Based on Class 12 Marks**
Lucknow University will offer admission to vacant seats in Civil, Computer Science, Computer Science & Engineering (AI), Electronics & Communication, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Candidates applying for the first year of B.Tech will be selected based on prescribed eligibility criteria and merit. Studying Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Class 12 is mandatory for this.

MCA is a two-year course. Students holding degrees such as BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.Sc. (IT), or B.Tech (CSE or IT) can apply. Candidates with other undergraduate degrees who have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 or graduation level are also eligible. A minimum of 50% marks is required for the General category, and 45% for SC/ST categories.

**Opportunity for Second-Year Entry via Lateral Entry**
Under the B.Tech lateral entry scheme, students holding a diploma or an eligible B.Sc. degree can secure direct admission to the second year. For diploma holders, a minimum of 45% marks is required for the General category and 40% for SC/ST categories.

Applicants must submit their High School and Intermediate mark sheets, certificates, and documents related to their relevant degree or diploma. To avail of reservation benefits, candidates must provide a caste certificate issued after April 1, 2026. The fee is ₹60,180 per semester for B.Tech and ₹56,180 for MCA. A draft of ₹1,600 must also be submitted along with the application.
