UP Board Exam 2026: Final List of Exam Centres to Be Released on December 30, Over 3,000 Objections Reviewed
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is set to publish the final list of exam centres for the UP Board High School and Intermediate Exams 2026 on Tuesday, December 30. With the board examination schedule approaching, schools and students across the state are gearing up for one of the largest academic events in India.
As per the updates, the board is currently finalising all arrangements for the upcoming examinations under the academic year 2025–26. Along with exam preparations, UPMSP has already instructed all schools to complete Pre-Board examinations by the second week of January.
Final Centre Allocation After Two Rounds of Objections
Earlier this month, the board had initially generated 7,448 exam centres across Uttar Pradesh through an online selection system. After addressing objections raised in the first phase, the board released a revised list on December 20, expanding the number of centres to 8,033.
In the second phase, the board received 3,053 additional objections. These objections were filed by students, parents, school principals, and institution managers. The majority of complaints were related to the distance and accessibility of exam centres allotted to candidates. Many students expressed concern about being assigned centres located far from their schools or homes.
To address these issues, UPMSP has been working in collaboration with District School Inspectors (DSIs). The focus is primarily on ensuring that students do not face travel-related difficulties while appearing for their board exams.
Over 52 Lakh Students Registered for 2026 Exams
For the 2026 board examinations, the combined number of registered examinees is significantly high:
-
High School (Class 10): 27,50,945 students
-
Intermediate (Class 12): 24,79,352 students
This brings the total number of registered candidates close to 5.25 million, making it one of the largest state board exams in the country.
Major Changes in Centre Distribution
UPMSP has been using an online process to determine exam centres for nearly ten years. However, the distribution pattern this year shows notable shifts:
-
More centres have been allocated to private unaided schools
-
A large number of government school centres have been removed
-
The board initially assigned 910 government school centres, but districts cancelled around 314 of them
-
Additionally, 31 aided schools were also removed from the list
After all objections in the first phase, districts suggested an increase of 585 centres before the temporary list was published.
Fewer Exam Centres Compared to Previous Years
Compared to the previous academic years, the number of centres has seen a slight decline:
| Year | Centres Initially | After Objection Review | Final Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 7,864 | 8,265 | +401 |
| 2025 | 7,657 | 8,140 | +483 |
| 2026 | 7,446 | 8,033 | +587 |
Even with the increase after objections this year, the final count is 107 centres fewer than last year’s final tally.
With the final list expected to be published on December 30, students will soon be able to check their designated exam centres via the UPMSP official website. The board will also continue addressing concerns to ensure a smooth and fair examination process for all candidates.
