UP Board Class 12 Practical Exams 2026 Revised: New Dates Added After Schedule Update

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has announced an important revision in the Class 12 practical examination schedule for 2026, bringing clarity and relief to students and schools across the board. As per the latest notification, the board has reintroduced January 29 and January 30, 2026, as valid dates for conducting practical examinations, following changes in the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET) schedule.

This update comes at a crucial time when schools are finalizing examination logistics and students are preparing for both practical and theory assessments.

Why Were the UP Board Practical Exam Dates Changed?

Initially, UPMSP had decided not to hold Class 12 practical exams on January 29 and 30, 2026, as these dates were earlier reserved for the UP TET 2026. To avoid a clash between the two major examinations, the board had prepared a revised practical exam timetable excluding these dates.

However, after the UP TET 2026 was postponed from its earlier January schedule, the board reviewed the situation and decided to include January 29 and 30 back into the practical examination window. With no overlapping examinations now scheduled on these days, UPMSP has officially confirmed that practical exams may be conducted on both dates if required.

Updated UP Board Class 12 Practical Exam Schedule 2026

According to the revised plan:

  • Class 12 practical examinations will begin on January 24, 2026

  • Exams will be conducted in two phases

    • Phase 1: January 24 to February 1, 2026

    • Phase 2: February 2 to February 9, 2026

  • January 29 and 30, 2026, are now included in the examination schedule

Schools have been instructed to organize the practical exams as per administrative convenience within this approved time frame.

UP Board Theory Exam Dates 2026

Alongside the practical exam update, UPMSP has also confirmed the schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 theory examinations.

  • Theory exams will be held from February 18 to March 12, 2026

  • The board expects around 52 lakh students to appear for the annual examinations

    • Approximately 29 lakh students are registered for Class 10

    • Around 23 lakh students are enrolled in Class 12

These numbers make the UP Board examinations one of the largest school-level exam systems in the country, requiring careful coordination and timely communication.

Revised UP TET 2026 Examination Dates

As per the updated calendar released by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC):

  • UP TET 2026 will now be conducted on July 2 and July 3, 2026

Earlier, the exam was scheduled for January 29 and 30, 2026, as announced by the commission’s leadership. However, due to administrative and technical challenges, the exam was postponed, leading to the rescheduling that ultimately allowed UPMSP to reinstate those January dates for Class 12 practical exams.

What Students and Schools Should Do Now

With the revised schedule in place:

  • Students should stay in close contact with their schools to confirm subject-wise practical exam dates

  • Schools must ensure that internal examiners, labs, and external assessors are aligned with the updated calendar

  • Students appearing for competitive or recruitment exams should double-check their individual schedules to avoid confusion

The board has emphasized that all practical examinations must be completed strictly within the approved timeline.

Other Recruitment Exam Updates

Along with the UP TET schedule, UPESSC has also released the exam calendar for other recruitment tests, including:

  • Assistant Professor

  • Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT)

  • Post Graduate Teacher (PGT)

Candidates appearing for these examinations can download the official exam calendar in PDF format from the commission’s official website for detailed information.

Final Word

The inclusion of January 29 and 30, 2026, in the UP Board Class 12 practical exam schedule ensures smoother exam management and prevents unnecessary pressure on students and schools. With clear timelines now confirmed for practical exams, theory exams, and UP TET 2026, students can focus on preparation with better clarity and confidence.

Students are advised to regularly check official notifications and follow instructions issued by their respective schools to avoid last-minute confusion.
