The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), Geneva, has invited applications from young people for its Graduate Professional Programme. This is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to work with the United Nations and gain research experience in the field of international peace and security. Through this programme, participants will have the chance to work with an international UN entity and gain insight into critical issues related to peace, security, and more.

**Gain Research Experience**
Participants will assist in conducting background research as well as planning and successfully implementing various activities. These activities will include meetings, workshops, conferences, and field missions. Additionally, candidates will support the team with communication, coordination, and administrative tasks. Candidates must possess the ability to work collaboratively in teams with people from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.

**Preference for Specific Disciplines**
Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school programme—specifically, a second university degree or an equivalent higher education course. Candidates who have already completed such a degree must begin the Graduate Professional Programme within one year of completion. Preference will be given to candidates holding post-graduate degrees in subjects related to gender, youth, and disarmament, such as International Relations, Political Science, Law, and Gender Studies.

**Digital Skills Required**
Candidates must have a strong command of the English language. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as design tools like Canva and InDesign is required. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in the work and objectives of the United Nations. During the application process, candidates must answer five screening questions covering education, English language proficiency, software skills, multitasking abilities, and published written work. Each answer must be limited to 250 words or less.
