Several days have passed since the exam concluded, yet the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not released the provisional answer key or response sheets. Why is there a delay in the UGC NET June 2026 answer key?
The provisional answer key for the UGC NET June 2026 exam has not yet been released. Typically, the answer key is issued within 7 to 10 days of the exam’s conclusion, but this time, more than 15 days have passed without its release. A few days ago, student leaders Deepak Dhankhar and Ankit Singh Phogat from Rohtak, Haryana, claimed that the UGC NET Sociology paper had reached them prior to the exam and was subsequently circulated. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also raised questions regarding this matter with the central government. However, the NTA had dismissed these claims of a paper leak.
Reports Indicate an Investigation
According to reports, following allegations of a paper leak, numerous candidates have complained about spelling errors, incorrect translations, and mistakes in specific questions within the Sociology paper. The Ministry of Education has directed the NTA to investigate the matter. It is believed that this issue is causing the delay in the release of the provisional answer key. However, the NTA has not yet issued an official statement regarding this.
Exam Conducted for 87 Subjects
The UGC NET June 2026 examination was held nationwide across two shifts from June 22 to June 30, 2026, covering 87 subjects. The first shift took place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Additionally, a re-examination was conducted on July 5, 2026, for candidates at an exam center in Jalandhar, Punjab, where the original exam had been cancelled.
What Happens After the Answer Key is Released?
Once the provisional answer key is released, candidates will be able to cross-check their answers and estimate their performance in the exam. If there are objections regarding any answer, candidates can submit them online within the stipulated timeframe by paying a fee of ₹200 per question. The final answer key will be released after a review by subject experts, and the results will be prepared based on that.
