The NTA has released the provisional answer key for the UGC NET December 2025 exam, allowing candidates to check their answers and estimate their scores. Here's how to do it easily.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important update for the lakhs of candidates who appeared for the UGC NET December 2025 exam. The NTA uploaded the provisional answer key for UGC NET December 2025 on its official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in today, January 14, 2026. This opens the way for candidates to view their recorded responses and estimate their potential scores. This is considered a major relief for candidates who have been waiting for this answer key for a long time.

The UGC NET December 2025 exam was conducted between December 31, 2025, and January 7, 2026. The exam was held in computer-based mode at various examination centers across the country. This time, the exam was conducted for a total of 85 subjects, with a large number of students participating. Since the completion of the exam, candidates have been waiting for the answer key to be released so that they can accurately assess their performance.

After the release of the provisional answer key, candidates can now view their question papers and the answers they selected. This will help them understand how many questions they answered correctly and estimate their likely scores. This process is especially important for students preparing for Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship positions.

If any candidate believes that an answer provided in the answer key is incorrect, they can raise an objection. The NTA has also provided a facility to challenge the answer key. Candidates can submit their objections from January 14, 2026, until 11:50 PM on January 17, 2026. No objections will be accepted after the stipulated time. This is how much you will have to pay

Candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs. 200 per question to raise objections. This fee is non-refundable, meaning that even if the objection is found to be valid, the fee will not be refunded. The fee can only be paid online. Candidates can pay the fee using a credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI. No objection will be considered valid without payment of the fee.

Who will check the objections?

The NTA has clarified that all objections raised by the candidates will be examined by a team of subject experts. This team will carefully review each objection, and if the answer to any question is found to be incorrect, it will be corrected. The revised answer key will apply to all candidates equally. The UGC NET December 2025 result will be prepared based on this final answer key.

How to check?

The process of downloading the answer key is also quite simple. Candidates should first visit the official UGC NET website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. On the homepage, a link related to the provisional answer key will be visible, which they need to click. After this, candidates will have to enter their application number and date of birth or password. After filling in the captcha code and submitting, the question paper, marked answers, and the provisional answer key will appear on the screen. Candidates can download it as a PDF file and also take a printout for future reference.
