The University Grants Commission (UGC) has once again issued a stern warning to students and parents by releasing a list of 22 fake universities operating across India. These institutions, according to UGC, are running without official recognition and are unauthorized to grant any valid degrees. Most of these fake universities are based in Delhi, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Puducherry.

In an official notification, the UGC clarified that under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, only those institutions recognized under Sections 2(f) and 3 are legally permitted to confer degrees.
