UGC declares 54 private universities as defaulters; check the list here

UGC 54 Private Universities Defaulter: The UGC has declared 54 private universities as defaulters because they failed to share important information for students on their websites.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared 54 private universities across the states as defaulters. The notice was issued to these universities because they failed to disclose essential information on their websites. This lack of information was making it difficult for students and parents to obtain accurate information about the universities.
UGC Secretary Professor Manish Joshi clarified that students should have complete information about the university, college, or higher education institution before admission. This includes information such as the university's accreditation, course name, medium of instruction, evaluation system, number of students in UG, PG, and PhD programs, off-campus placements, dropout rate, faculty qualifications, sports facilities, and reservations.
UGC has warned that if these universities ignore the directive, more stringent action may be taken against them. Officials say the higher education regulator has been tightening its monitoring of private universities over the past few months. In July, 23 other institutions were also warned for violating rules.

The lack of complete information on university websites can be a source of difficulty for students in making decisions.
