TN: 3 Lakh Candidates Apply for Engineering Courses; AICTE Yet to Give Green Signal for Counseling Schedule..
Tamil Nadu: Approximately 300,000 students have registered for admission to engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the wait regarding the dates for the counseling process continues, as the AICTE has not yet granted final approval. The entire TNEA 2026 admission process will be conducted online, encompassing stages such as registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment, and admission confirmation.
377 Students Register for Diploma Engineering; 129 for Lateral Entry
A senior official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), under the Department of Higher Education, stated that a total of 295,080 students had registered for engineering admissions as of June 3.
Due to the postponement of the NME following irregularities, the number of students registering for engineering admissions is expected to exceed 300,000—a figure significantly higher than that of the previous year. The official also noted that the final deadline for registration is June 5.
However, sources within the Education Department (DoTE) indicated that the counseling process should ideally commence in the second week of July to ensure that first-year students can begin their academic session by September 2026. Engineering admissions in the state are based entirely on Class 12 Board examination marks.
