The UP Class 12 board exam paper will carry 80 marks; internal marks will also be awarded for subjects such as Hindi, English, and Sanskrit..
There is significant news for students studying in UP Board Class 12. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has devised a new exam format based on the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2023), and PARAKH. Consequently, several changes will be observed in the Intermediate board examinations starting from the next session. These new rules will come into effect for Class 11 from the upcoming academic session.
**What changes will occur in the new UP Board Class 12 exam pattern?**
According to the new rules and format, all theory papers will now carry 80 marks. Previously, subjects with practical components had 70-mark papers, while those without practicals had 100-mark papers. Now, however, papers for all subjects will be worth 80 marks.
**20-mark internal assessment for subjects like Hindi, Sanskrit, and English**
Under the new format, papers for Hindi, Sanskrit, and English will carry 80 marks, with an additional 20 marks allocated for internal assessment. Similarly, practical exams will now be worth only 20 marks, while theory papers will carry 80 marks.
**Entire syllabus to be covered; questions to be asked from every unit**
Questions from every unit will now be included in the UP Board Class 12 examinations. Students will therefore need to study the entire syllabus thoroughly. Specific weightage will be assigned to each unit.
**Reduced focus on rote-learning-based questions**
The new question papers will prioritize knowledge, understanding, analysis, evaluation, and critical thinking over rote memorization. Additionally, there will be less emphasis on long-answer questions. Students will also have the freedom to choose between questions; for long-answer sections, they will be able to answer one out of two questions.
