The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of India will give financial assistance of up to Rs 20 lakh to such promising students. Who can take advantage?

The candidate should have completed post graduation with at least 60% marks. The maximum age limit is 35 years. The annual income of the family should be less than Rs 8 lakh. Under this scheme, the government provides this financial assistance to 125 students every year. This amount is decided on the basis of your chosen course and the level of the institute.

Time limit is also important

You will get a maximum of 4 years to complete PhD abroad. That is, with the help of the government, you will have to finish your course in the stipulated time.

Suppose, a student from Delhi is from Scheduled Caste category, he has scored 65% marks in post graduation, age is 30 years and the annual income of the family is Rs 6 lakh. If he gets an offer for PhD in a big university like Oxford or Harvard, he can avail financial help of up to Rs 20 lakh under this scheme. This will include his tuition fees, visa, air ticket and living expenses.
