ITI Job Training 2026 Guidelines: The government has taken a significant decision for ITI students. The Directorate General of Training (DGT) has mandated 150 hours of on-the-job training for ITI trainees under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS). Students will now be required to complete this training. In a way, this is beneficial for students. It will provide them with the opportunity to learn both technically and practically, in addition to classroom training.

Students will be job-ready.
This training will be provided under the Craftsmen Training Scheme under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Previously, ITI students were trained on campus, but this left a lot to learn and understand. In particular, students lacked experience in a real-world environment. However, under the new guidelines, this on-the-job training will prepare students for jobs and provide them with a realistic understanding of the working world.

Work will also be added to ITI marksheets.
Under the National Education Policy 2020, the Directorate General of Training (DGT) has revised the CTS eligibility criteria. The annual training period for ITI graduates has been reduced from 1600 to 1200 hours. Instead, 150 hours of On-the-Job Training (OJT) have been included in the scheme. The Directorate General of Training (DGT) states that under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS), ITI students will be allowed to pursue On-the-Job Training (OJT) after completing at least the basic training.

In addition, candidates will be able to work on group projects. The 150 hours of training will also be added to students' marksheets, ensuring their work is reflected in their ITI certificate. For students who cannot complete OJT for any reason, the group project will be mandatory.
