Delhi: The government has filed its affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the NEET-UG controversy. The government further said in the affidavit that the CBI is investigating the matter, complaints of paper leak have been received in many states. The CBI is still investigating these cases. It was also said that steps were taken as soon as the information about the paper leak was received. But canceling the exam is not appropriate. This will be a betrayal of promising students. Let us tell you that on behalf of the government, Varun Bhardwaj, Director of the Higher Education Department in the Ministry of Education, has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court.
Cited the decision in DSSB
Further in the affidavit, the government insisted on not canceling the exam and cited the decision of the Supreme Court in DSSB against Sachin Kumar in 2021. The government said that a high-level committee has been constituted by the Ministry of Education to improve the NTA and give suggestions to conduct the examinations properly. This committee is headed by former ISRO Chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan, who will submit the report to the ministry in two months. The investigation is going on continuously to find out the organized gang and the mastermind behind the paper leak.
CBI has registered an FIR
The ministry said that the government has handed over the investigation to the CBI and the CBI is investigating the matter by registering an FIR. Complaints of paper leaks have been received in many states. On the 23rd of last month, the CBI registered an FIR under sections 420, 419, 409, 406, 201, 120B of the IPC and sections 13 (2), and 13 (1) of the PC Act. In its affidavit, the government has said that the CBI is investigating the matter, the investigation is also going on to find out the organized gang and the mastermind behind the paper leak. It will be exposed soon, every aspect is being looked into and every fact is being investigated. The government has further said that steps have been taken as soon as the information of the paper leak was received, but canceling the exam is not appropriate. It will be a betrayal to the promising students.
What happened?
Let us inform you that the NEET UG exam was held on 5 May. For the first time, about 25 lakh students appeared in this exam. At the same time, its result was released on 4 June, as soon as the result was declared, questions started being raised on NEET UG. The reason was that 67 students topped this exam simultaneously. All the students got 720 out of 720 marks. This is the first time that such a large number of students have scored 100 percent marks. After this, the matter reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had issued notices to the government and NTA regarding this matter and fixed the date of hearing as 8th July. Let us tell you that so far 24 different petitions have been listed in the entire matter. A 3-member bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud will hear this controversial case of NEET UG on 8th July.
