Maharashtra TET Exam Postponed (2026): The shadow of paper leaks continues to loom over government job and teacher recruitment exams. Now, a shocking incident has emerged from Maharashtra: the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), scheduled for June 28, 2026, has been abruptly postponed. The Maharashtra State Council of Examination took this decision following police action in Bhiwandi. This move has caused panic among lakhs of candidates across the state who were fully prepared to take the exam this Sunday.

The anger and disappointment among students regarding the Maharashtra TET (Maha TET 2026) are evident. Highly confidential information related to the question paper was recovered from certain suspects in Bhiwandi, forcing the administration to take immediate action. This revelation, occurring just before the exam was set to begin, has exposed flaws in the security arrangements and the agencies responsible for conducting the test. The Bhiwandi police have detained three individuals in connection with the case. The Council stated that postponing the exam was essential to maintain its integrity.

**Revelation following police raid in Bhiwandi**
Bhiwandi police had received a tip-off regarding suspicious activities and the leak of confidential information concerning the question paper. Without wasting time, the police raided the suspected locations and recovered incriminating material. They obtained documents that left the Maharashtra TET organizing council stunned. A case was immediately registered at the Bhiwandi police station, and legal proceedings were initiated.

**Striking similarity between recovered documents and the actual paper**
During the preliminary investigation, officials were shocked when they compared the material recovered by the police with the actual question paper for the TET 2026 exam scheduled for June 28. A remarkable similarity was found between the recovered material and some of the exam questions. This clearly indicated that preparations for a paper leak were complete, and the questions had already reached a select few individuals. Once this serious irregularity came to light, there was no option left but to cancel the exam.

 Exam Postponed to Ensure Transparency
The Maharashtra State Examination Council issued a press release acknowledging the gravity of the situation. The Council emphasized that the fairness and transparency of the examination are paramount. Conducting the exam under these circumstances would have been unfair to the lakhs of candidates who had prepared diligently. Consequently, a firm decision was taken to halt the Maharashtra TET exam—scheduled for June 28—to prevent the entire process from being tainted.

Uncertainty Looms Over Candidates' Future; When Will the Exam Be Held?
This sudden decision has come as a major shock to the lakhs of candidates who had been working tirelessly for months to prepare for this teacher recruitment eligibility test. Students are expressing their frustration on social media. Reassuring the candidates, the Examination Council stated that a thorough investigation into the racket is underway. A new notification regarding the revised exam dates and the future schedule will soon be released on the Council's official website.

Strict Action Against the Guilty
Priya Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of the Examination Council, stated that the exam—organized by the Pune Examination Council—was scheduled to take place at 1,728 centers across 37 cities in the state. Approximately 6,12,500 candidates were set to appear for it. However, the exam had to be postponed following paper leaks in Thane and Bhiwandi. She assured candidates that they were not at fault in this matter; therefore, they would neither need to register again nor pay any fees for the rescheduled exam. The Deputy Commissioner noted that organizing the exam takes about three weeks. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
