A major update has emerged regarding the fourth phase of the teacher recruitment examination (TRE-4.0) conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The BPSC has clarified that the online application process for the appointment of school teachers under Advertisement No. 14/2026 is now likely to commence on September 21, 2026. Necessary changes will be made to the online application process alongside the issuance of a revised advertisement.

**Applications were originally scheduled to begin on September 1**

According to the BPSC's earlier schedule, the online application process for TRE-4.0 was supposed to run from September 1 to September 30, 2026, with the deadline for submitting the application fee set for September 29, 2026. However, the application link did not go live on September 1. While announcing the postponement, the Commission stated that certain procedural changes needed to be made to the online application and the advertisement. The Commission's new notice now clarifies that the application process is likely to begin on September 21 following the necessary amendments.

**Single exam for TRE-4; negative marking to apply**

A significant change has also been made regarding the TRE-4.0 examination. Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari stated two days ago that the number of exams in the teacher recruitment process has been reduced by one this time. Candidates will now have to take only a single exam, and negative marking will be applicable. The Minister noted that minor adjustments have been made to TRE-4. The responsibility for preparing the syllabus, setting the question paper, and conducting the exam lies with the BPSC. The exam date will be announced by the Commission at a later stage.

**Recruitment for 33,385 teacher posts**

Appointments to vacant school teacher positions in Bihar's government schools are to be made under BPSC TRE-4.0. According to the Commission, recruitment was initially announced for a total of 32,386 teacher posts. Subsequently, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari announced that 111 additional seats had been added for the subject of Music for Classes 9 and 10. A requisition for these additional posts will soon be sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Subsequently, the recruitment process for these posts under TRE-4 will move forward. With the addition of 111 posts in the Music subject, the total number of vacancies under TRE-4 has reached 33,385. The recruitment process will proceed once the Education Department submits the requisition for the additional posts.
