Students absent from UP Board exams, over 300,000 skipped in two days

The UP Board of Secondary Education's high school and intermediate examinations have begun under strict supervision. Held in 75 districts of the state, this examination is considered the largest board examination in Asia.

The UP Board of Secondary Education's high school and intermediate examinations have begun under strict supervision. Held in 75 districts of the state, this examination is considered the largest board examination in Asia. This year, a total of 5,253,746 candidates were registered at 8,033 examination centers, but over 300,000 students were absent from the examination in the first two days. The administration has made extensive arrangements to prevent cheating and ensure a peaceful examination.

A total of 5,253,746 students were registered for both the UP Board high school and intermediate examinations. Of these, 4,940,038 appeared for the examination, while 3,13,708 students skipped the examination. Following this, the number of students who dropped out is believed to be quite high.

27,54,376 students were registered for the high school examination. Of these, 25,83,055 students appeared, while 1,71,321 students did not appear. Hindi and Elementary Hindi exams were conducted in the morning shift on the first day.

Furthermore, 24,99,370 students were registered for the intermediate examination. Of these, 23,56,983 students appeared, while 1,42,387 students were absent. Hindi and General Hindi exams were conducted in the second shift.

On the first day, three students were caught using banned items in the high school examination. Of these, two were caught cheating in Hapur and one in Bareilly. No cheaters were caught on the first day of the intermediate examination.

Five fake candidates were caught taking the exam in place of others in Fatehpur, Kannauj, Kaushambi, and Etawah during the UP Board examination. An FIR was filed against all of them under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations Act 2024.

It is being reported that the examination was conducted under strict supervision on the second day as well. However, an intermediate student in Azamgarh was caught cheating. Four students have been caught cheating so far. Furthermore, according to the Board Secretary, six FIRs have been filed so far.

Meanwhile, the board examination is being conducted under special supervision in Prayagraj. The examination is being conducted at 333 centers in Prayagraj district. The district has been divided into eight zones and 33 sectors. Eight mobile teams, along with zonal and sector magistrates, are continuously inspecting the centers.

In addition, 11 sensitive and eight highly sensitive centers have been identified in the district. Question papers and answer sheets are kept secure in strong rooms with double-locked cupboards. All centers are being monitored live from the DIOS office.
