The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the exam dates for the Tier-2 examination for candidates who have qualified in the SSC CGL Tier-I exam. Candidates who have been declared successful in the CGL Tier-1 exam will now be able to appear for the CGL Tier-2 exam. The Tier-2 exam will be conducted in January. Candidates preparing for the CGL Tier-2 exam can now strengthen their preparation according to the main exam dates.

Main Exam Dates
The SSC has announced the exam dates for the CGL Tier-2 examination. The Tier-2 exam will be conducted on January 18 and 19, 2025. On January 18, candidates will be asked questions from Mathematics, Reasoning, General Ability, English, General Awareness, and Statistics. Additionally, a skill test will be conducted for candidates on December 19.

Number of Vacancies
A total of 14,582 candidates will be selected through the SSC CGL examination, including 6183 posts for general category candidates, 3721 posts for OBC, 1423 posts for EWS candidates, 2167 posts for SC, and 1088 posts for ST. In addition, a total of 1,39,395 candidates have been shortlisted for the Tier-2 examination.

Tier-1 Exam Dates
The Tier-1 examination was conducted by the SSC between September 12 and 26, 2025.  Approximately 28 lakh candidates registered online to appear for the CGL Tier-1 exam, out of which 13.5 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. The provisional answer key for the Tier-1 exam was released by the SSC on October 16, 2025. The Tier-1 exam consisted of 100 multiple-choice questions worth 200 marks. The exam was conducted for one hour and included negative marking of one-fourth of a mark for each incorrect answer.
