Most students aspiring to build a career in the medical field view NEET and MBBS as the only paths to success. However, there are numerous other courses and professions in the health sector where demand is rapidly increasing. Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, a prominent mentor in the city known for guiding students for competitive exams, explains that there is no need to be disheartened if one does not succeed in NEET. Students can build a career in the medical field without NEET; options such as physiotherapy, nursing, pharmacy, radiology, lab technology, and optometry are available.

**No Need to Despair Over Lack of NEET Success**
Mentor Dr. Akhilesh Kumar notes that following the NEET results, some students will secure admission to government medical colleges and others to private ones, but many will not succeed. Such candidates need not be disappointed. If they do not wish to prepare for NEET again, there are excellent alternatives available for building a career in the medical and healthcare sectors.

**Promising Future in Nursing and Paramedical Fields**
According to Dr. Akhilesh, nursing is currently among the most in-demand fields. Nursing education can be pursued at both government and private institutions. Additionally, paramedical courses open up employment opportunities in various roles, such as lab technician, OT technician, X-ray technician, MRI technician, and pathology technician.

**Other Medical-Related Course Options**
If a student is unable to pursue a direct medical degree, they can opt for courses such as pharmacy, biotechnology, hospital administration, bioinformatics, nutrition, genetics, food technology, environmental science, veterinary science, fisheries, agriculture, and horticulture. All these fields are directly or indirectly linked to health and medical services and offer excellent career prospects. Excellent career options for young people also exist in allied healthcare fields such as radiography, radiotherapy, physiotherapy, optometry, ENT technology, cardiac technology, and OT/ICU technology. With growing public awareness regarding mental health, the demand for clinical psychology is also rising rapidly. This field offers promising career prospects following further studies and the requisite professional training.

**Make an informed decision before pursuing MBBS abroad**
Dr. Akhilesh notes that many students who fail to secure admission in India go to countries like Russia, Ukraine, China, or Mauritius to pursue MBBS; however, to practice in India upon their return, they must pass the mandatory local licensing examination. Admission in most of these places is also granted based on NEET scores. Nevertheless, it remains a viable option. While pursuing MBBS at private colleges in India can cost around one crore rupees, one can study in foreign countries for a significantly lower fee.

However, basing a decision solely on low fees is not advisable. Language poses a major challenge in these countries, as students are often required to learn the local language first. He explained that after completing medical studies abroad, passing the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) is mandatory to practice as a doctor in India. Qualifying for the FMGE or NEXT exam requires having previously cleared NEET.
