Smart Books to be Introduced in Haryana: Every Question Will Feature a QR Code That Opens a Video Upon Scanning..
A significant step is being taken in Haryana to modernize and infuse technology into the education system. The Haryana Board of School Education is now poised to make learning easier and more interactive for students. Starting from the new academic session, students in grades 9 through 12 will be provided with "smart books" that feature embedded digital content accessible via QR codes.
In addition to this, virtual laboratories, AI-based information resources, and a new assessment system will also be implemented. This initiative will not only make learning more engaging but also prepare students to thrive in the digital age.
Smart Books to Simplify Learning
A key feature of these books is that every question will be accompanied by a QR code. If a student struggles to understand a particular question, they can simply scan the code to access a video lecture on that specific topic directly on their mobile device. This will reduce students' reliance on teachers for every query, allowing them to study at their own pace and convenience.
Learning to Integrate Virtual Labs and AI
According to Dr. Pawan Kumar, Chairman of the Board, students will also be provided with access to virtual laboratories alongside the smart books. Through this facility, students will be able to easily access information related to technical experiments, the internet, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to help students connect with and familiarize themselves with modern technologies. Currently, the publication of these books is in its final stages, and they are expected to reach students very soon.
Trilingual Formula to be Implemented
In accordance with the New Education Policy 2020, a trilingual formula will now be implemented. For students in grades 9 and 10, it will be mandatory to study one additional language—choosing from Sanskrit, Punjabi, or Urdu—alongside Hindi and English. This measure will strengthen students' linguistic proficiency and broaden their knowledge of various languages. Evaluation to Now Be Based on Six Subjects
Previously, students were evaluated based on five subjects; however, this has now been expanded to include six subjects. This will facilitate a more comprehensive assessment of students and broaden the scope of their learning.
Special Provisions for Students with Disabilities
The Haryana Board has taken special measures for students who are deaf, mute, or have other disabilities. A distinct educational plan will be implemented for such students studying in the eight special schools across the state. They will be granted exemptions regarding language selection, and Indian Sign Language (ISL) will be introduced as a subject. This initiative will make education more accessible and inclusive for students with disabilities.
