Shiksha Mitras and instructors in Uttar Pradesh, who have been demanding a raise in honorarium for a long time, have finally received major relief. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced in the Assembly that Shiksha Mitras will now receive 18,000 rupees per month, and instructors 17,000 rupees. Until now, both were receiving only 10,000 rupees. This decision is considered a major relief for them in this era of inflation. Approximately 1.70 lakh people will directly benefit from it.

Honorarium Increased After 9 Years, New Facilities Provided

CM Yogi stated that the government has taken this decision in the interest of Shiksha Mitras and instructors. In 2017, the BJP government increased its honorarium from 3,000 to 10,000 rupees. Now, a single increase of 8,000 rupees has been made. Shiksha Mitras and their families will also be provided with cashless medical treatment up to 5 lakh rupees. The government has also talked about implementing a transfer system. Anil Yadav, President of the Uttar Pradesh BTC Teachers' Association, welcomed this decision, saying that their demand was 30,000 rupees. But in the current circumstances, this increase is a significant relief.

The Shiksha Mitras' journey has been full of ups and downs.

The Shiksha Mitras' journey has not been easy. In 2001, they received a mere honorarium of 1,500 rupees. Gradually, this amount increased to 3,000 rupees. In 2014, the Samajwadi Party government adjusted them to the position of assistant teachers, and they began receiving a salary of around 43,000 rupees. However, in 2017, following a Supreme Court order, their adjustment was revoked, and they returned to their Shiksha Mitra status. That same year, the Yogi government fixed their honorarium at 10,000 rupees, which has now been increased to 18,000 rupees. This long-awaited increase is considered a significant relief for them.
