Schools Closed in Noida: The severe cold wave and dense fog continue to wreak havoc in North India, with school children being the most affected. A significant drop in temperature has been recorded in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Delhi-NCR. Considering the weather department's warnings and the biting cold, the district administration of Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida and Greater Noida) has taken a major decision. Following the District Magistrate's instructions, all schools up to class 8 in the district will now remain closed until January 15, 2026.

For the past few days, the fog has been so dense in the mornings that visibility has dropped to near zero, making it risky for school vehicles to travel on the roads. To end the confusion among parents and teachers, the administration has clarified that this order will apply equally to all boards – CBSE, ICSE, and UP Board. Find out how many days schools will remain closed in Noida and which classes this order applies to.

Noida School Closure: Impact of Severe Cold and Fog
The District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar has declared a holiday for all schools from nursery to class 8 until January 15, considering the severe cold wave prevailing in the district. Earlier, the holidays were until January 10, but the decision to extend them was taken considering the weather conditions. The administration has clarified that strict legal action will be taken against any school that violates this order.

Noida School Holidays: Order Applicable to All Boards

Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar has issued an official letter regarding the school holidays. According to this, the order is not limited to government schools only. All recognized private schools, aided schools, and institutions affiliated with the Central Boards (CBSE/ICSE) operating in Noida and Greater Noida must also compulsorily follow this rule.

What are the rules for classes 9 to 12?
Schools up to class 8 in Noida have been completely closed. Meanwhile, school timings for students in classes 9 to 12 may be changed, or online classes may be opted for. Many schools have set the timings for senior classes from 10 AM to 3 PM. This will protect children from the biting cold of the morning.

Winter Vacation: Yellow Alert for Fog and Cold Wave
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow alert' for Noida and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh for the next few days. Due to icy winds, the daytime temperature is 5-6 degrees below normal. In such a situation, keeping children safe indoors is considered the best option for their health. Winter vacations are also underway in Ghaziabad and other districts of Uttar Pradesh, in addition to Noida.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has appealed to parents to keep checking for updates from their schools. Many private schools have also shared 'winter assignments' and online learning modules.
