Uttar Pradesh is experiencing severe cold weather and dense fog. In light of this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that all schools, from nursery to class 12, remain closed until January 1st. Following this order, all schools in the state, including those affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, and the UP Board, will be closed. Any school that fails to comply will face action for violating the rules.
Alert Issued for These Districts
According to details shared by the Indian Meteorological Department, dense fog has been reported in the districts of Baghpat, Meerut, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, and Budaun. In addition, a cold wave is expected in Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, Hardoi, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Ayodhya.
Schools Closed in Other States as Well
Besides Uttar Pradesh, schools in Bihar have been ordered to remain closed until December 30th for classes up to 8th grade. Schools in Saharsa and Nalanda will be closed up to class 10th. School timings have also been changed for higher classes.
In Una, Himachal Pradesh, schools have been closed from December 29th to 31st due to the cold weather. Schools in Punjab have also been closed since December 22nd due to the cold wave. The date for reopening schools has not yet been announced. Further information will be provided by the education department depending on the weather conditions.
