School students are getting the opportunity to work at ISRO; apply by February 27th.
If you are in the 9th grade and are interested in space, rocketry, or science, there's good news for you. ISRO has launched the YUVIKA 2026 program; learn the application process.
The country's space agency, ISRO, has announced the launch of the Young Scientists Program for 9th-grade students. This initiative aims to foster children's interest in science and space at an early age. Through this program, selected students will have the opportunity to observe and understand the world of space research up close. YUVIKA is a special educational program designed specifically for school students. Its aim is to bring children out of the classroom and into a real-world scientific environment. During this program, students will visit various ISRO centers, see modern laboratories, and interact directly with scientists. This will help them understand how space missions are planned and how space technology works.
Who can apply?
Only students who are in the 9th grade as of January 1, 2026, can apply for this program. Applicants must be from a recognized school.
How will the selection process be conducted?
Students will be selected based on several criteria. 8th grade marks will be given 50 percent weighting. Additionally, 10 percent marks will be allocated for online quizzes. Participation in activities such as science exhibitions, Olympiads, sports, NCC, or NSS will earn additional points. Students from schools in Panchayat areas will receive a 15 percent additional benefit. Student representation from every state and union territory will be ensured.
What facilities will be provided?
Selected students will have the opportunity to visit ISRO centers. They will be able to interact directly with scientists and observe ongoing work in laboratories. They will be given practical information about space science. Most importantly, all accommodation, food, and travel arrangements will be provided by ISRO, ensuring no financial burden on students.
