Scholarship: There is good news for students and professionals aspiring to take their careers to new heights in sectors such as Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics (AVGC), and Media Technology. The Government of India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), in collaboration with Google and YouTube, has announced 15,000 AI scholarships. In essence, the MIB has partnered with Google and YouTube to launch an AI skills program for the creative sector. Under this initiative, 15,000 AI scholarships will be awarded within the AVGC and Media Technology sectors.

Let us explore the objective behind the Government of India's MIB launching this AI skills program. For which curriculum are these scholarships being offered, and how will the program be implemented?

Scholarships to be Awarded Through IICT
The Government of India's MIB AI skills program will be administered through the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), to build advanced, future-ready AI capabilities. In this regard, the IICT has also issued a statement. The IICT stated that this program has been designed as an impact-centric skills pathway, specifically tailored for high-potential talent within the fields of media, entertainment, animation, gaming, and digital storytelling. This program will assist creators, media professionals, students, and developers in acquiring skills that are ready for the future.

What Will Be the Role of YouTube and Google?
The IICT will oversee the design, outreach, and curation of this program. Furthermore, the IICT will work in close collaboration with Google and YouTube. The curriculum has been designed to integrate advanced AI tools, creative workflows, and platform-level best practices, thereby ensuring that candidates acquire production-ready and industry-relevant skills right from the outset. The IICT will initiate the application process for the scholarships. Further detailed information can be obtained directly from the IICT.

Program to be Conducted in Two Phases
The AI skills program—to be jointly administered by the Government of India's MIB in collaboration with Google and YouTube—will be completed in two phases. Let us explore what candidates selected for scholarships in these two phases will have the opportunity to learn.

Phase 1: In this phase, candidates selected for scholarships will be provided with foundational literacy in AI. Additionally, they will receive scholarships for Google Career Certificates and Google Cloud's Generative AI (Gen AI) learning pathways. Notably, Google designed its Career Certificates program specifically to train professionals, offering them opportunities to connect with top-tier employers.

Phase 2: Candidates who complete the first phase will gain the opportunity to advance to the second phase. Within this curriculum, candidates will delve into the art of storytelling, receive advanced training using Google's AI tools, and explore YouTube's best-in-class modules. This phase of the program will be jointly curated by IICT and YouTube.
