Under the Right to Education Act (RTE) 2009, there is a provision to provide free education to children between 6 and 14 years of age. Under this rule, private schools in states across the country admit children from the low-income group (EWS) quota. In some states, the controversy related to admission of children from EWS quota by private schools also made headlines. For example, private schools had fixed classes for admission of children from the EWS quota. The Rajasthan government has taken a big decision in this matter. The Rajasthan government has changed the RTE rules and fixed classes for admission from EWS quota. This will provide relief to a large number of parents.

Now admission only in UKG and first class

The Rajasthan government has changed the RTE rules and limited the classes for admission from EWS quota in private schools. Now, private schools of Rajasthan will be able to admit children from EWS quota only in UKG and class one. Under this rule, private schools provide free education to children.

Schools were giving benefits in nursery, but were refusing in first class.
Private schools in Rajasthan were still refusing EWS quota to children under RTE in class one. The schools argued that they enroll children in EWS quota in nursery class itself. Parents' problems had increased due to this. Due to this, more than 1.5 lakh EWS quota children of Rajasthan were waiting for admission. It is believed that this decision of the Rajasthan government will reduce the difficulties of such children.

Directorate of Education issued instructions, which will be implemented from this session.
The Directorate of Education has informed the private schools of the state about the changes in the rules of RTE in Rajasthan. In this regard, the Directorate of Education has issued instructions to private schools, in which it has been said that the new rules of RTE should be implemented from this session. Also, the Directorate of Education has clarified in its instructions that the fees will not be deposited again if admission is done from EWS quota in LKG and UKG classes.

Also, the Directorate of Education has clarified in its directive that if any school does not follow the new rules of RTE and refuses admission as per the RTE rules, then necessary action will be taken against such schools.
