Candidates applying for RRB NTPC UG and Graduation Recruitment should start preparing for Stage 1 (Computer Based Test / CBT-1) because soon the exam date for NTPC recruitment can be announced by RRB. The exam schedule will be released by RRB in PDF format on the official website of Railway Recruitment Board Chandigarh through online medium, so candidates are advised to visit the website from time to time.

CBT 1 Exam Pattern

RRB will ask a total of 100 multiple choice type questions in NTPC UG and Graduation Stage 1 exam. Candidates will be given 90 minutes to solve the question paper. Candidates of the PWD category will be given 120 minutes to solve the paper. In the paper, 40 questions will be asked from General Awareness subjects, 30 from Mathematics, and 30 from General Intelligence and Reasoning subjects.

There is also a provision for minus marking.

Candidates going to appear in the RRB NTPC exam should keep in mind that they should not guess while answering the paper, because there is a provision of minus marking in this exam. 1/3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Passing marks for Stage 1 exam

To qualify in the first stage exam, it will be mandatory for the general category candidates to get a minimum of 40 percent, EWS category of 40 percent, OBC (non-creamy layer), SC category 30 percent, and the ST category to get a minimum 25 percent marks.

When will the exam date be announced?

Candidates waiting for the RRB NTPC exam date should be informed that the exam schedule can be released anytime by the Railway Recruitment Board. Admit cards of the candidates to appear in the exam will be made available 4 days before the exam date, while the exam city slip will be issued 10 days before the exam date.

Candidates who will be successful in the CBT 1 exam will be considered qualified for the Stage 2 (CBT-2) exam. A total of 11558 posts will be filled through Graduate. Out of this, 3445 posts will be filled under Under Graduate Post and 8113 posts will be filled under Graduate Post.
