RPSC: 40% qualifying requirement for School Lecturer and Second Grade GK exams to be scrapped soon; check full details here..
There is welcome news for candidates who appeared in the School Lecturer and Second Grade recruitment exams conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). The RPSC is set to abolish the mandatory requirement of securing a minimum of 40% marks in the General Knowledge (GK) paper for these recruitment exams. According to the Commission, the 40% aggregate requirement will now be calculated by combining the marks from the subject-specific paper with those from the General Knowledge paper.
**Removal of the 40% GK Requirement**
Previously, candidates struggled to meet the mandatory 40% minimum score in the General Knowledge section. Consequently, despite the exams being conducted, many recruitment posts remained unfilled. Existing rules required candidates to secure at least 40% marks in each paper individually. In response to this issue, the RPSC consulted experts nationwide and submitted a proposal to the government; the rules governing future recruitments will soon be amended.
**Low Success Rate Despite Exams**
The success rate of candidates in exams conducted by the Commission has been remarkably low. In the recent School Lecturer examination, only 67 candidates succeeded against a total of 645 vacancies for Political Science, leaving 578 posts vacant. Similarly, for Commerce, 323 candidates succeeded out of 600 posts; for Physics, 24 were selected out of 136 posts; and for Physical Education, 81 were selected out of 113 posts. It is worth noting that over 600,000 candidates had appeared for the exams across all subjects.
