Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a proposal to accommodate two 'Agniveers'—from the first batch set to retire from the Indian Army in November 2026—against existing vacancies in the 40th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).

A communication received from a Joint Secretary to the Government of India indicated that the first batch of Agniveers, recruited under the 'Agnipath' scheme, is due to complete its service in the armed forces in November 2026. In this context, a request was made to facilitate the absorption of two such Agniveers from Uttarakhand.

By granting his approval, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has authorized the adjustment of these two Agniveers against available vacancies in the 40th Battalion of the PAC. This decision by the state government represents a proactive step toward providing continued service opportunities to retiring Agniveers.

"The Agnipath scheme, launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is strengthening the spirit of discipline, service to the nation, and dedication to duty among the youth of our country. The skills, experience, and discipline that Agniveers acquire during their service in the Indian Army constitute an invaluable asset to the nation. Our government holds the contributions and capabilities of these Agniveers in high regard. It is our endeavor to ensure that these young individuals, who have already served the nation, find further opportunities to serve the state, allowing Uttarakhand to benefit from their military experience, discipline, and proficiency. The Government of Uttarakhand remains committed to fostering a bright future for our youth and supporting their resolve to serve the nation."

— Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand
