The NMC has resumed the application process for the Eligibility Certificate (EC) for candidates planning to pursue medical studies abroad. This opportunity is intended for candidates who were previously unable to complete their applications.

The NMC has once again opened the application process for Eligibility Certificates for Indians planning to study medicine abroad. This opportunity is extended to candidates who could not complete their applications within the earlier deadline due to technical issues. The NMC's Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) had received requests from such candidates regarding the difficulties they faced during the application process. Consequently, the Commission decided to provide affected and eligible candidates with another chance to apply.

Candidates can now apply until October 7, 2026.

The application window reopened by the NMC will remain active until 6:00 PM on October 7, 2026. Candidates must visit the official NMC portal to apply; specifically, they can fill out the Eligibility Certificate form by visiting application.nmc.org.in. The Commission has advised candidates not to wait until the last minute but to complete their applications as soon as possible to avoid any complications arising from last-minute technical issues.

Second Chance Due to Technical Issues

Previously, the deadline for submitting EC applications was September 30, 2026. Some candidates had reported technical issues during the application process, preventing them from completing their forms on time. In light of the difficulties faced by these candidates, the EMRB decided to reopen the application facility. Eligible candidates whose applications remained incomplete now have another opportunity to finalize the process.

Points to Remember While Filling the Form

The NMC has advised candidates to enter all information carefully when submitting their applications. It is crucial to thoroughly review the information—such as personal details, educational qualifications, and medical college particulars—before submitting the application. The Commission has clarified that incomplete applications will not be accepted and will be rejected; neither the EMRB nor the NMC will be held responsible in such cases. Therefore, candidates must ensure that all information and necessary details requested in the form are filled in correctly.

Why is the EC essential for those pursuing MBBS abroad?

The NMC Eligibility Certificate (EC) is a mandatory document for Indian students planning to pursue MBBS or other medical courses abroad. It serves to verify whether a candidate meets the prescribed academic and regulatory criteria for obtaining a medical education overseas. Candidates who intend to return to India and proceed with their medical careers after completing their studies abroad must fulfill the eligibility conditions set by the NMC. Consequently, it is vital to ensure there are no deficiencies in the information provided or the documents submitted when applying for the EC.
