Re-NEET Exam: The admit card for the May 3rd exam is not valid; biometric verification is mandatory before the exam..
NTA: The NTA has issued new guidelines for candidates ahead of the re-conducted NEET (UG) exam. Candidates appearing for the exam must download a new admit card, as the admit card for the exam originally held on May 3 will no longer be valid. Additionally, completing the biometric verification process before entering the exam center is mandatory.
The agency has implemented several new security measures to ensure the exam is secure and transparent.
In a post on the social media platform 'X', the NTA clarified, "It is clarified that candidates who have already downloaded their admit cards for the June 21 NEET-UG exam do not need to do so again. The SMS/email/WhatsApp messages are primarily intended for students who have not yet downloaded their new admit cards."
The NTA stated, "The admit cards from May 3 will not be valid because many students have been allotted new centers in their preferred cities. Downloading and printing the admit card for June 21 once is sufficient."
Biometric verification at the exam center
On the day of the exam, after completing security checks (frisking), all candidates must undergo biometric verification before entering the exam hall. This process will include fingerprinting and facial recognition and will be completed before the exam begins.
Under what circumstances is an exemption granted?
If a candidate's biometric verification cannot be completed due to technical or other reasons, they will still be permitted to take the exam. To do so, the candidate must submit a written undertaking (declaration) at the exam center.
Key circumstances for exemption:
Technical malfunction in the biometric device
Poor quality of biometric data
Connectivity issues with the UIDAI server
Candidate is physically unable to provide biometric data
No disruption during the exam
The NTA has clarified that candidates will not be disturbed during the biometric process while the exam is in progress. Where necessary, this process will be completed either before the exam begins or after it concludes.
The Re-NEET 2026 exam will be held on June 21 from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. However, PwD/PwBD candidates eligible for compensatory time will be granted extra time to complete the exam, extending their session until 6:20 PM.
Refusal to undergo biometric verification may invite action
The NTA has urged all candidates to cooperate with exam center staff and security personnel. If a candidate refuses to undergo biometric verification without a valid documentary reason, it will be considered a violation of exam rules.
In such cases, action may be taken against the candidate under the "Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024."
