The state government has launched a major initiative to address the severe shortage of teachers in Uttar Pradesh's secondary schools. The recruitment process for over 22,000 posts is expected to begin soon. The Directorate of Secondary Education has requested details of vacant positions from all districts and is preparing to submit requisitions to the Selection Commission. If the draft is approved by the Selection Commission, the recruitment process will begin through an online portal. This is expected to strengthen the education system in thousands of schools across the state.

Preparations for the Recruitment Process Intensify
The Directorate of Secondary Education has requested details of vacant teacher positions from 75 districts across the state. The received requisitions have been sent to the Education Services Selection Board. If the Selection Commission accepts the draft, the entire recruitment process will be conducted through the same portal. Upon receiving the Commission's instructions, the requisitions will be uploaded to the portal, after which the recruitment process will begin.

Over 22,000 vacant positions in 4,512 schools
Currently, 22,201 positions for principals, lecturers, and assistant teachers are vacant in the state's 4,512 secondary schools. Of these, over 2,000 are principal positions, while the remaining are for lecturers and assistant teachers. The shortage of teachers was impacting school education.

An online portal will expedite the recruitment process.

An online portal is now planned with the help of the National Institute of Technology (NIC). Deputy Director of Education (Secondary-3), Dr. Brajesh Mishra, stated that the draft has been sent to the selection board. Upon approval, the recruitment process will begin, addressing the teacher shortage in schools.
