PhD Admissions for 959 Seats
A total of 959 seats are available across Allahabad University and its constituent colleges. Of these, 470 seats are located on the university campus, while 489 seats are allocated to the constituent colleges. There is significant variation in the number of seats per subject on the university campus. Chemistry has the highest number of seats at 84, followed by Commerce and Business Administration (75), Physics (74), and Law (56). There are also 50 seats available in Hindi. Additionally, there are 45 seats each in English and Philosophy; 43 in Ancient History, Culture, and Archaeology; 34 in Mathematics; 28 in Computer Science; 27 in Economics; and 23 in Electronics and Communication. Four seats have also been allocated for Journalism and Mass Communication.
489 Seats in Constituent Colleges
The remaining 489 PhD seats are available in the university’s constituent colleges. Allahabad Degree College holds the highest number of seats at 203. This is followed by CMP with 89 seats, SS Khanna with 46, and Jagat Taran with 36. Allahabad Degree College alone accounts for 38 seats in Law.
Exemption from Qualifying Exam for Certain Candidates
The university has exempted candidates belonging to specific categories from the mandatory qualifying examination. This provision applies to regular and permanent teachers of Allahabad University and its constituent colleges. Additionally, armed forces officers of Colonel rank with at least 10 years of service, international applicants, and designated part-time applicants with a minimum of 10 years of regular service are also exempt from the qualifying exam.
Application for PhD Admission
Application fees for PhD admission vary by category. Candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay a fee of ₹600, while SC, ST, and PH candidates must deposit ₹300.
