People keep many pets like cats and rabbits apart from dogs. In such a situation, the demand for their doctors has also increased. Let us know what studies have to be done to open a pet clinic and how to get a license for a pet clinic.

To open a pet clinic, one has to obtain a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.VSc) degree. This course is taught in various government and private colleges in the country. To study this, it is mandatory to pass 12th from the Biology stream. At least 55 percent marks should be there in Intermediate.

How to get admission?

Admission in the Bachelor of Veterinary Science course is done through the NEET UG exam. This exam is conducted every year at the national level by the National Testing Agency. Candidates who are successful in the exam participate in the counseling process. Seats are allotted based on NEET score and rank. According to media reports, there are a total of about 5000 seats across the country.

How to get a license to open a clinic?

After obtaining a graduation degree in Veterinary Science, first of all, you have to register with the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) or the State Veterinary Council of your state. After this, you have to get a license to run a clinic from the Veterinary Board of your state. Also, trade license, drug license, and other documents have to be obtained from the local municipal corporation. Without a B.VSc degree, you cannot apply for a license.

These documents are mandatory for registration.

For registration, all the relevant documents like B.VSc degree certificate, mark sheet, and identity card, etc. have to be uploaded. After getting a license from the Veterinary Council, you can open a pet clinic and can also sell medicines.
