What was taught during the training?

After completing a 15-week foundation course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, these trainees joined the Hyderabad academy on December 8, 2025. Their 45-week training program at the academy focused on both traditional policing and emerging challenges—including cybercrime, cryptocurrency-related fraud, financial crimes, drug trafficking, the darknet, artificial intelligence, and threats posed by drones. The curriculum includes the implementation of three new criminal laws, as well as subjects related to investigation, forensics, internal security, public order, information technology, criminology, police management, ethics, and human rights. Practical training encompasses simulations of investigations and riot control, mock court proceedings, case studies, and exercises involving investigative tools.

Outdoor and Indoor Training
Outdoor training covers the use of weapons, firing, unarmed combat, fieldcraft, tactical operations, map reading, physical fitness, yoga, and horse riding. Final examinations for both indoor and outdoor subjects have been completed, while qualifying examinations for cadre-specific languages, Hindi, driving, swimming, first aid, and other subjects will be conducted during the second phase.

Field Exposure and Special Attachments
As part of their training, the probationers visited police stations to understand the functioning of the ‘Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems’ (CCTNS) and other operational procedures. The Director of the NPA noted that, as part of efforts to foster greater sensitivity, the probationers also visited orphanages and shelters for victims of human trafficking. Furthermore, they studied security arrangements during events such as Ganesh Visarjan processions, cricket matches, and assembly elections in Assam and Kerala.
The officer stated, “Special attachments included jungle survival training with the ‘Greyhounds’ in Telangana, rock climbing with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and advanced weapons training at the Border Security Force’s (BSF) ‘Central School of Weapons and Tactics’.” The programme also includes gaining insights into Army operations in the northern and eastern regions, as well as CRPF operations in areas affected by Left-Wing Extremism.

What happens next?
Following the parade, the trainees will head to Delhi for a four-week period, during which they will be attached to Central Police Organisations, Armed Police Forces, and other institutions. This will conclude the first phase, spanning 49 weeks. Subsequently, they will undergo 29 weeks of practical district-level training within their allotted cadres. On June 21, 2027, they will return to the academy to commence the second phase, which will last for nine weeks. The final phase will include specialised attachments with the National Forensic Sciences University and a leadership module at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
