Assistant Professors will be recruited across various departments, schools, and centers at IIT Roorkee. These include Architecture and Planning, Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Design, Earthquake Engineering, Earth Sciences, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Additionally, positions are available in Humanities and Social Sciences, Hydrology, Hydro and Renewable Energy, Management Studies, Mathematics, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Paper and Packaging Technology, Polymer and Process Engineering, and Physics. Applications are also invited for roles in the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, as well as various centers such as Disaster Mitigation and Management, Nanotechnology, Transportation Systems, Sustainable Energy, Photonics and Quantum Communication Technology, and Space Science and Technology.
Appointments in two grades
Appointments for the post of Assistant Professor under this recruitment drive will be made across two grades. Academic Pay Level-12 has been designated for Grade-1, with a salary range of ₹1,01,500 to ₹1,67,400. Meanwhile, Academic Pay Level-10 applies to Grade-2, with a salary range of ₹57,700 to ₹98,200; the starting salary for Grade-2 will be fixed at ₹89,800.
What are the required qualifications?
For Assistant Professor Grade-1, candidates must hold a PhD in the relevant field and possess a first-class qualification in their preceding degree. Additionally, they must have an excellent academic record and at least three years of industry, research, or teaching experience (excluding experience gained during the PhD). For Grade-2, a PhD in the relevant field, a first-class qualification in the preceding degree, and a good record throughout their academic career are mandatory.

Benefits for Assistant Professors
Faculty members appointed as regular Assistant Professors at IIT Roorkee will receive various facilities in addition to their salary. A monthly fellowship of ₹30,000 is provided for three years after joining. Reimbursement for relocation expenses (including shifting of personal belongings) is available up to ₹1 lakh for candidates joining from within India, and up to ₹1.5 lakh for those joining from abroad. Accommodation may also be provided subject to availability on campus. Faculty members will receive a Professional Development Allowance of ₹3 lakh for three years. Provisions also include a Faculty Initiation Grant of up to ₹20 lakh for two years based on a research proposal, and additional financial assistance of up to ₹2 lakh at the time of joining for items such as a laptop and printer.
