NTA corrects notice, says calculators will not be used in JEE

JEE Main Exam: Preparations are underway for the JEE Main 2026 exam. The registration process for the JEE Main exam is underway. The exam will be held in January. Several changes are being made to the JEE Main exam this time, including an increase in exam centers. The NTA has issued a notice regarding the use of calculators in the JEE Main exam.

Calculator in JEE Mains: Calculators cannot be used in the JEE exam

The previous information bulletin stated that an "onscreen standard calculator" would be available during the computer-based test (CBT). The agency has now confirmed that this information was incorrect and does not apply to the JEE Main. Therefore, calculators (in whatever form – physical or virtual) are not permitted for the JEE exam.

NTA Notice: What does the NTA notice say?

The NTA notice states, “In Appendix VIII of the Information Bulletin on ‘Computer-Based Test (CBT)’ for JEE Main 2026, uploaded on the NTA's official website, it is mentioned that an onscreen standard calculator will be available during the Computer-Based Test (CBT). However, this feature is part of the general examination platform and does not apply to the JEE (Main) conducted by the NTA, as the use of calculators in any form is not permitted in this exam.”

The NTA has issued a notice with changes for the JEE Main 2026 exam, and candidates are advised to download it. The NTA acknowledged that typographical errors in the JEE (Main) 2026 Information Bulletin may have caused inconvenience to candidates. The agency regrets the inconvenience caused.
