Currently, retired Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi serves as the NTA Chairman; the Ministry of Education entrusted him with this responsibility in August 2023. Prior to this role, Pradeep Kumar Joshi served as the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He has also held the position of Chairman for the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Public Service Commissions. Originally from Almora, Uttarakhand, Pradeep Kumar Joshi completed his education in Kanpur. He began his career as a teacher and later held several senior positions in universities and various government institutions. After extensive experience in educational administration, he served as the UPSC Chairman and was subsequently appointed as the Chairman of the NTA in August 2023.

How is the NTA Chairman appointed?

What is the salary at the NTA?

In a recent response to an RTI query, the NTA stated that information regarding the salaries of its senior officials and total salary expenditure was not available in the requested format; consequently, the agency did not disclose full details of the other officials' salaries. However, salary records from August 2023 indicate that the monthly gross salary of the NTA Director General was approximately ₹3.08 lakh at that time. Meanwhile, the monthly salary of a Senior NTA Director was around ₹3.35 lakh, and that of Director-level officials ranged from approximately ₹2.18 lakh to ₹2.27 lakh per month.
