Applications for government scholarships for the year 2026 have commenced via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Students can apply for new scholarships based on their eligibility or renew existing ones. Various scholarships are available for students ranging from pre-matric and post-matric levels to graduation, post-graduation, diploma, and PhD programs. The application process is online and free of charge; however, after applying online, it is mandatory to submit a printout of the application to the respective school or college.

**Applications Open Until October 31**
Online applications for the NSP Scholarship 2026 began on June 1. Interested students can fill out their forms until October 31, 2026. Following the application, the hard copy must be submitted to the school or college by November 15, 2026. Students should note that merely filling out the online form is insufficient; failure to submit the printout to the institution may result in the cancellation of the application.

No application fee will be charged to eligible students from any category—including General, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD (Persons with Disabilities)—for these scholarships.

**Students Eligible for These Courses**
The NSP offers scholarship schemes for students at pre-matric and post-matric levels, as well as for those pursuing graduation and post-graduation. Students enrolled in courses such as BA, BSc, BCom, BEd, BTech, BCA, LLB, and BBA are eligible to apply. Postgraduate courses such as MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, MCA, MTech, LLM, and MEd are also covered. Eligible students pursuing diplomas, certificate courses, and PhDs can also apply for the relevant schemes.

**Keep Documents Ready Before Applying**
Before filling out the form, keep the following documents ready: High School and Intermediate mark sheets, mark sheets or certificates from the previous examination, caste certificate, income certificate, and Aadhaar card. First-time applicants may also require a bona fide certificate. A provision for capturing a live photo during the application process has also been included. Crucially, the student's bank account must be linked to their Aadhaar and mapped with the NPCI; only then can the scholarship amount be transferred to the account.

**How to apply after OTR**
First, the student should visit the official NSP website and complete the One Time Registration (OTR). This process will be linked to Aadhaar-based KYC. Keep the OTR number received after registration safe. Next, log in to the portal and enter your personal, academic, and bank-related details. Upload the required documents in the correct format. Carefully verify all information before submitting the form. After submitting the application, take a printout and submit it—along with the necessary documents—to your school or college within the stipulated timeframe.
