The application and renewal process for scholarships for the 2026-27 academic session is currently underway on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Eligible students wishing to avail benefits under various central government scholarship schemes can apply online until October 31, 2026. Existing scholarship recipients must also complete their renewals on time. This applies to schemes such as PM-USP CSSS and the special scholarship scheme for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Before applying, students should familiarize themselves with the OTR (One Time Registration) process and the required documents.

**Application window open until October 31**
According to the NSP schedule, the deadline for submitting scholarship applications is October 31, 2026. Subsequently, the concerned institutions must complete the verification of applications by November 15, 2026. The deadline for Level-2 (L2) verification has been set for November 30, 2026. Students are advised to apply well in advance to avoid any complications during the verification process.

**Option to apply for multiple schemes**
Starting from the 2026-27 academic session, eligible students will be able to apply for other welfare schemes alongside merit scholarships. However, it is essential to carefully review the eligibility criteria for the respective schemes before applying.

**Application not possible without OTR**
Completing the One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory before applying for scholarships on the NSP. Through this process, students receive a unique number that remains valid throughout their academic career. The OTR number can be generated using an Aadhaar number or an Aadhaar Enrollment ID (EID).

**Solution for face authentication issues**
If 'Error 904' appears during face authentication, students should update the UIDAI Aadhaar Face RD app. Students whose Aadhaar biometrics are locked can unlock them via the mAadhaar app or the My Aadhaar portal to complete the process.

Important instructions for differently-abled students
Before applying, differently-abled students must log in to the UDID portal and provide consent to share their UDID details. Only then will they be able to submit their scholarship application.

Applications can also be submitted via CSC
Students unable to apply online themselves can seek assistance from a nearby Common Service Center (CSC). A total fee of ₹30 is prescribed for completing the registration and application process there. Please keep all necessary information and documents ready before applying.
