A 12-digit APAAR ID has been introduced for school students in Madhya Pradesh, with over 10 million (1 crore) unique cards generated so far. Through this, all academic records and marksheets of students will remain digitally secure.

Important news has emerged for school students and their parents in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has taken a major step toward making the school education system completely digital and streamlined. Now, a unique identification ID—similar to the Aadhaar card—will be created for children studying in all government and private schools across Madhya Pradesh. This new ID has been named APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry).

The Madhya Pradesh School Education Department has officially announced this initiative. The government's objective is to consolidate all records related to a child's education onto a secure digital platform, ensuring that students do not face any paperwork-related hassles in the future. Let us understand what the APAAR ID is and the benefits it offers to students.

What is the 12-digit APAAR ID?

The APAAR ID will essentially be a unique 12-digit number directly linked to a student's academic journey. You could call it a digital report card or an 'Education Aadhaar' for students. This initiative is part of the 'One Nation, One Student ID' program under the Central Government's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The scheme is being rapidly implemented in Madhya Pradesh.

According to government data, APAAR IDs have already been generated for approximately 10 million (1 crore) school children in Madhya Pradesh. This means that digital accounts have been created for nearly 78.5% of the state's students, and work is proceeding rapidly for the remaining students.

What information will be recorded in this ID?

Once a child's APAAR ID is created, all their academic details—spanning from school through to college—will be recorded within it. This 12-digit number will contain the student's name, age, and parental details, as well as their annual exam results, Transfer Certificate (TC), migration certificate, and comprehensive scholarship information.

How will students and parents benefit from this?

The creation of this digital ID offers significant advantages to students and their parents. For instance, if a family moves to a different city and the child needs to change schools, the new school can instantly access the child's entire academic history online using just this 12-digit number, thereby facilitating immediate admission.

Furthermore, all data associated with the APAAR ID will be securely stored digitally and can be downloaded online from anywhere, at any time. This ID will enable the government to directly identify eligible students, ensuring that scholarship funds reach the right recipients promptly and without delay.
