Chief Ministers of various states are now taking action regarding the NEET exam. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting with officials and issued necessary directives.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued strict instructions to officials regarding the re-examination of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). He stated that the exam, scheduled for June 21, must be conducted across the state with complete transparency, security, and smooth arrangements to ensure students do not face any inconvenience.

It is worth noting that the NEET exam originally held on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak. Subsequently, the National Testing Agency decided to conduct a re-examination on June 21. A large number of candidates are expected to appear for this exam.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized that maintaining the fairness of the examination process is the primary responsibility of all concerned departments. He instructed officials to ensure there are no lapses in security arrangements at exam centers and that monitoring is strengthened at every level.

He specifically directed that CCTV camera systems at all exam centers remain fully operational. Emphasizing the need to bolster cybersecurity, he also instructed that proactive measures be taken to prevent any technical glitches or online irregularities.

Strict implementation of procedures

The Chief Minister stated that the candidate identity verification process at exam centers must be implemented with strictness. Furthermore, instructions were issued to ensure that candidate screening and entry procedures adhere to established rules. He asserted that strict adherence to security standards is crucial for maintaining the credibility of the examination.

Fadnavis also advised officials to maintain effective communication with students, parents, and the general public. He stated that accurate information regarding the exam should be consistently shared via social media and other communication channels, which would help curb rumors and misinformation.

Importance of Information Management

The Chief Minister instructed officials to immediately refute any misleading news or rumors regarding the examination. He stated that misinformation could cause unnecessary stress and confusion among students and their families; therefore, special attention must be paid to information management.

During the meeting, Fadnavis also emphasized the need to focus specifically on examination centers in Pune and Latur. He noted that a large number of students travel to these two regions every year to take the NEET exam. Consequently, additional arrangements and monitoring must be ensured to prevent any disorder during the examination.

What the CM Said

The Chief Minister further directed that the availability of all necessary facilities for students be ensured. Adequate arrangements for drinking water, seating, security, medical assistance, and other basic amenities should be made at the examination centers so that candidates can take the exam without any inconvenience.

During the meeting, Abhishek Singh, Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), gave a detailed presentation on the examination preparations in Maharashtra. He shared information regarding the number of examination centers established in the state, security arrangements, available facilities, and the action plan devised for the smooth conduct of the examination.
