All government schools in Himachal Pradesh will remain open on August 15. Unlike in other states, schools in this state will not be closed on Independence Day. The state government has directed educational institutions to organize flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, and patriotic events on Independence Day and to ensure that students attend school on this day. The Directorate of School Education issued this order on Wednesday. In the order, the Directorate instructed all District Deputy Directors (Primary and Higher) and principals of government senior secondary schools to ensure that Independence Day is celebrated with respect and enthusiasm in all government schools.
On the occasion of Independence Day, every government school will organize flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, and other patriotic activities. The Directorate also asked District Education Officers to issue necessary guidelines to schools in their respective districts and ensure that all government schools remain open on Independence Day. The order emphasizes that the national festival should be celebrated with enthusiasm and discipline in all government educational institutions across Himachal Pradesh.
Will schools open in other states too?
For now, only the Himachal Pradesh government has issued such an order; no similar directive has been announced by any other state so far. It is worth noting that schools are typically closed on Independence Day.
