NMC: Opportunities for medical students have increased, MBBS seats have increased in these states..

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the NEET UG seat allocation for the 2025-26 academic session. A total of 126,600 MBBS seats are now available in India, including newly approved seats and renewals of existing seats. This year, excluding AIIMS and JIPMER seats, 9,075 new MBBS seats have been approved across the country. Candidates are advised to carefully review the revised seat matrix and adhere to the rules and schedule issued by the NMC.
Seat Increases and Reductions in States
Shanthiram Medical College in Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, has increased its seats from 150 to 250, while Anna Gowri Medical College has been approved to begin with 150 seats. Several medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have also increased their seats, creating more opportunities for students aspiring to pursue medical education.
MBBS Seats Reduced Here
In contrast, 456 MBBS seats have been withdrawn from Delhi's Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research due to pending court cases and non-compliance with regulations. This has resulted in a reduction of 150 seats from the approved list.
Continuous Revision of Seat Matrix
In September, the NMC added 6,850 seats and removed 1,056 seats due to pending cases and approval delays. Ten days later, it was updated again, adding 7,375 new seats and reducing 456 seats. This change was made under the third phase of the expansion of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).
Choice Filling Deadline: October 13
Also, the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has extended the choice filling deadline for NEET UG Round 3 to October 13, 2025. The seat allocation results for Round 3 are expected to be announced by October 15.
