NIOS Extends Registration: The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has extended the deadline for applications for the 6-month certificate course (Bridge Course) in Primary Teacher Education. What does the official notice say?
NIOS initiated the registration process for the 6-month certificate course (Bridge Course) in Primary Teacher Education via notification number 14/2026, issued on April 15, 2026. The online registration portal was initially open until April 30, 2026, allowing eligible candidates to apply.

Subsequently, requests were received from various stakeholders to extend the registration deadline and reopen the portal. Considering these requests, the competent authority has granted permission to reopen the registration portal for eligible candidates, ensuring that those who missed the initial deadline can also apply.

Who can apply?
This bridge course has been developed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the overall guidance of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. For primary teachers appointed between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023, based on their B.Ed. qualification, completing this 6-month bridge course is mandatory to maintain their service eligibility.
