NIELIT Digital University Platform Launched, 5 New Centers Opened, Offering Courses Ranging from AI to Semiconductors..

The NIELIT Digital University platform was launched yesterday, October 2nd, by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Five new centers were also inaugurated. It is designed to democratize access to high-quality digital education. Five new NIELIT centers located in Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Lunglei (Mizoram), and Daman, Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, were also virtually inaugurated. Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnav, inaugurated the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform in New Delhi. Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed between NIELIT and Microsoft, Zscaler, CCRYN, Dixon Tech, and Future Crime.

Which courses will be offered?

This platform will provide industry-focused programs in specific technologies such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, semiconductors, and related fields. It will prepare youth for the future and equip them with industry-ready skills. During the event, Ashwini Vaishnav stated that three years ago, the decision to establish a digital university was taken.

He stated that wherever electronics and IT are being used, our goal should be to train and prepare students to meet those specific demands. I firmly believe that NIELIT will achieve even greater achievements in the near future. The Minister stated that this will further strengthen industry-academia collaboration.

The University will connect with industries.
The Minister stated that just as Gati Shakti University is directly connected to industry in the transportation sector, our vision for NIELIT is the same. We want to make it an institution deeply connected to industrial needs.

S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, explained that a wide range of courses are available on the NDU platform. Students can choose according to their interests. He added that NIIT centers are located even in remote areas, where there is a lack of good educational and training institutions.
