Difference Between UGC NET And CSIR NET: UGC NET i.e. University Grants Commission National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UGC NET 2024) is commonly known as the NET exam. You must have heard about this exam that this exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian citizens for 'Assistant Professor' as well as 'Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor' in Indian universities and colleges. Earlier this exam was conducted by the University Grants Commission, but since 2018 this exam has been conducted by NTA i.e. National Testing Agency. This exam is conducted twice a year. What is the CSIR UGC NET exam?
The full form of the CSIR UGC NET exam is the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) University Grants Commission National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Let us tell you that CSIR, which is known for its cutting-edge research and development knowledge base in diverse science and technology fields, is a research and development organization. Earlier CSIR UGC NET exam was conducted by CSIR, but now NTA conducts this exam. Both UGC NET and CSIR NET are National Eligibility Tests, which are conducted by NTA. Both exams are for Junior Research Fellowship or Assistant Professor.
Big difference in subjects
There is a big difference with similarity in both the exams. This difference is about the subjects in both exams. UGC NET exam is conducted for the candidates of Arts and Commerce, and Social Science. On the other hand, the CSIR UGC NET exam is purely for candidates with science (biology, physics, chemistry, mathematical science, earth atmospheric ocean, planetary science) and technology background.
Eligibility is also different.
Candidates applying for the UGC NET exam must have a master's degree in arts or commerce from a recognized institute. On the other hand, only students with a master's degree in science can apply for CSIR UGC NET. UGC NET exam is conducted for 83 subjects at various examination centers across the country, while CSIR UGC NET has 5 subjects.
Earlier the mode of the exam was different.
CSIR UGC NET exam is conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode. On the other hand, the UGC NET exam was conducted in pen and paper mode before now. Due to the NET exam leak, this year NTA has decided to conduct UGC NET exam in computer-based mode. At present, the candidates who have taken the NET exam are eagerly waiting for the UGC NET 2024 result. Recently NTA has released its answer key.
