For this, Samriddhi bought a ticket for the Intercity Superfast train from Basti and started her journey on the day of the exam. According to the Indian Railways timetable, the train was supposed to reach Lucknow at 11 AM. After that, Samriddhi could have gone for the NEET exam, but the train reached Lucknow two and a half hours late. Because of this, Samriddhi could not appear for the NEET exam, and a year was wasted.
UP student appeals to the Consumer Commission.
The UP student, Samriddhi, who could not take the NEET exam due to the train delay, held the railways responsible and appealed to the Consumer Commission. The student's lawyer demanded Rs. 20 lakh in compensation from the railways and issued notices to senior railway officials.
Railways admit fault, now to pay Rs. 9.10 lakh in compensation

The commission also imposed a fine of Rs. 9.10 lakh on Indian Railways. This fine will be given to the affected NEET student from Uttar Pradesh.
