NEET UG PG Counselling 2025: There is good news for students wishing to take admission in a medical college. 8000 seats are going to increase in MBBS and Master's Medical Courses in the country. National Medical Commission (NMC) chief Dr Abhijat Sheth has shared information about this. Let us tell you that counseling for NEET UG has started. National Medical Commission (NMC) chairman Dr Abhijat Sheth said that this time the number of seats may increase further after the inspection process is completed. At present, the counseling of NEET UG has started, while the results of NEET PG has been declared recently and its counseling will be held in September.

How many MBBS seats are there?

About 8000 new seats will be increased for MBBS and Masters Medical Courses across the country. At present, a total of 1,18,098 MBBS seats are available in India, out of which 59,782 are in government and 58,316 are in private institutions. At the same time, the number of seats in PG courses is 53,960, which includes 30,029 government and 23,931 private institutions.

NEET UG PG Counseling 2025: Counseling Status

NEET UG counseling has already started and thousands of students are participating in it. The counseling process for the second round is starting from 25 August 2025. At the same time, the result of NEET PG has been released recently and counseling for this will start from September. NMC has told that the colleges which have applied for new PG seats are being inspected. The number of seats is likely to increase further after the inspection process is completed.

Why is the number of seats changing

The NMC chief said that the seats of some colleges may be less this time because CBI investigation is going on against them. Due to this the inspection process is pending. However, overall about 8000 or more seats will be added in the final result. This move will prove to be a big change in the field of medical education as more students will get a chance to become doctors and the quality of health services in the country will also improve.
